Former Rangers defender Alan Hutton has opened up on his excitement ahead of today’s Legend’s game with Liverpool and took a playful dig at former Gers team-mate Kris Boyd.

Hutton is one of the Legends turning out for the Gers and is looking forward to catching up with some familiar faces he hasn’t seen in a “long time.”

The former right-back joked that Boyd’s fitness wasn’t great as a player and admitted he “can’t wait” to see them now, with the game being screened live on social media.

“I’m actually looking forward to seeing some of the older, well, ‘older’ boys like Kris Boyd who, let’s should we say, maybe he wasn’t the fittest when he was playing,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“So to see them after retirement and now it’s been a year or so I can’t wait to see some of them. I’m really looking forward to seeing some old faces as well, the likes of Nacho Novo as well that I’ve not seen in a long time.”

Despite Boyd’s shoddy fitness, he knew how to score and do it to great effect during his time at Ibrox.

He’s probably one of the few players who won’t be affected as much by his drop in levels now he’s retired as he was never the most active player anyway during his time at Rangers.

At least for Boyd’s sake, it shouldn’t be too hot and save him the ignominy of needing to be replaced after suffering heat-stroke in Glasgow again.
