Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty made his first start for Hibs this afternoon as they beat minnows BSC Glasgow 4-1 in the Scottish Cup – and fans of both clubs were happy to see him impress.

Docherty set up two of Marc McNulty’s hat-trick before grabbing the fourth himself as Hibs eased into the last eight in terrible conditions.

He moved to Hibs on deadline day with Florian Kamberi heading in the other direction, as he looks to get regular action after barely featuring this season for Rangers.

The loanee made his debut last weekend as a substitute against St. Mirren but played the full 90 minutes for Jack Ross’ side in the comfortable win.

Whether Docherty will have any long-term future remains to be seen but the midfielder will still have a year left on his Gers contract at the end of his loan stint.

Last season’s successful loan with Shrewsbury didn’t seem to do anything to get him closer to the Rangers first-team but six months in the Scottish Premiership could help him win a reprieve.

Hibs fans were particularly excited by his performance, with one calling his signing an “incredible piece of business” by the Easter Road side.
