Rangers icon Richard Gough has claimed that LA Galaxy’s technical director Jovan Kirovski was quizzing him about Ibrox star Alfredo Morelos during the Gers’ 5-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend – and admits that he’s been “really impressed” with the Colombian this season.

Kirovski was pictured in the director’s box at Ibrox last weekend and Gough told how he’d told Kirovski that Morelos is a “pure goalscorer” despite the MLS man’s view that the striker looked a “touch heavy.”

Morelos was unplayable against the Dons and Kirovski will have no doubt been impressed by his performance with Gough praising the Gers talisman after he seemed to have “screwed the nut” in recent months.

“Jovan is a friend of mine and I sat next to him at the game on Saturday,” Gough said, as quoted by The Scotsman.

“He is in Europe to see a number of things at the moment. He was asking me about Alfredo and I told him he’s just a pure goalscorer.

“Jovan said, ‘Yeah, but he looks a touch heavy’, but I told him just to keep watching and he would definitely score. True enough, he scored with a great finish just a few minutes later.

“I’ve been really impressed with him this season. He seems to have calmed down a bit, screwed the nut and realised the ability he has got. He seems to be more comfortable within himself and he played very well against Aberdeen.”

A move to MLS would seem incredibly unlikely for Morelos given how much Rangers will want in return to sell the Colombian international and how unlikely MLS are to meet that fee.

Morelos has stated his aim of playing in England’s Premier League and heading across the Atlantic to a perceived retirement league isn’t going to take him any closer.

The prospect of playing alongside guys like Zlatan Ibrahimovic would surely appeal to him but it’s difficult to see Morelos heading Stateside at any time in the near future.
