Rangers' Glenn Middleton in elite group with Hudson Odoi & Jadon Sancho

What a season it has been for Rangers’ Glenn Middleton.
Not only has the young winger broke through into the Rangers first team, but he’s pretty much cemented his place in the squad too.
Still only 19, it’s been a special rise for the youngster. But one achievement perhaps ranks higher than all the rest so far.

Middleton is one of only seven youngsters born after the year 2000 to score in Europe. Middleton scored Rangers’ third goal in the 4-3 defeat away to Spartak Moscow in the Europa League in November.
Born on January 1st 2000, the winger makes it by hair. But it’s a pretty elite club Middleton has joined in doing so.
He joins the likes of £35m Bayern Munich target Callum Hudson Odoi (
The Guardian) and England wonderkid/international Jadon Sancho of Dortmund.
Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe, Dimitris Raspas of AEK Larnaka, Paulinho of Levekusen, and most recently, Real Betis winger Diego Lainez make up the rest of the elite group.

That’s some pretty special company and shows just what a talent Rangers have on their hands.
Middleton has made 27 appearances this season, scoring five goals and making five assists. The Scottish youth international signed a new contract with the club back in October last year reportedly tying him down at Ibrox until 2023 (Scottish Sun).
Rangers fans have been delighted with his progress since joining from Norwich’s Academy last January, leading some to label him as the “future of our club”.
