Rangers flop continues to train at former club as Ibrox career looks dead

Rangers flop Eduardo Herrera continues to train with former side Club Necaxa despite his loan deal finishing at the end of the season – and hopefully, it is a sign that a deal to get him off the Gers’ wage bill is near.
Herrera spent the second half of last season with Necaxa but reported to the Mexicans for pre-season with his Rangers career already effectively over.
The striker was pictured earlier this week as the Nexaca squad trained at their Estadio Victoria for the first time during pre-season.

With Steven Gerrard putting his squad through their paces in Portugal this week, it seems that there’s no way back for Herrera after a nightmare spell in Scotland.
Getting the striker off the wage bill would give Gerrard a little bit more room to manoeuvre in the transfer market this summer as he looks to add to his squad.
Herrera still has another year left on the contract he signed when he joined the club under Pedro Caixinha in 2017.

The striker originally left Ibrox to join Santos Laguna before it was cut short and he joined Necaxa, scoring five times and contributing two assists in 16 appearances.
With Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe competing to be the main striker at Ibrox, even if Herrera was to return to Ibrox, it’s impossible to see any place for him in the squad.
