The Aberdeen ticket fiasco hit peak Scottish football earlier today when the North East club were ordered to hand tickets back to Rangers.

Aberdeen had demanded 20,000 tickets from the SPFL. Despite making a big song-and-dance about it, they’ve struggled to sell even half of them. The club and its supporters have since been left rather red faced.

Aberdeen will now have their total ticket allocation reduced. As a result Rangers fans will also get more tickets than previously anticipated. We should find out tomorrow how many.

Rangers fans have also been enjoying the entire debacle from the sidelines.

Aberdeen were adamant they could sell the seats but haven’t been able to. Rangers fans are sitting in their numbers desperate to snap one up. There have been cries of “tinpot” aplenty as fans bicker over the final outcome.

What’s more, despite Rangers releasing a statement saying they’d find out tomorrow the full total of tickets, Aberdeen could yet get the chance to sell them. Aberdeen claim they’ve been given extra time to do so.

However, it looks very unlikely they will.

Here’s a selection of some of the best Twitter responses to the entire Aberdeen ticket fiasco.
