Rangers needed a late goal to see off a determined Hibs side last night at Ibroxbut the Light Blues support already have a new hero in Ianis Hagi.

The Romanian international scored six minutes from the end to secure a deserved win on his first start for the club, to keep Rangers seven points behind Celtic in the title race.

Hagi took a little bit to get going as he settled into the side but once he found his feet, the Gers fans were quick to get behind the on-loan star.

He showed excellent composure to pick his spot and fire home the 84th-minute winner but, even before that, there were real signs of quality from the 21-year-old.

The Istanbul-born star wasn’t afraid to demand the ball from his more experienced team-mates and looked equally comfortable with the ball on his left foot as he does on his ‘natural’ right.

With a trip to face Hamilton in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, Gers fans will be hoping to see more from Hagi after his stunning start.
