Mexican striker Eduardo Herrera has left Rangers to join Club Puebla, the Liga MX side has confirmed, and Rangers fans are delighted to see the back of the flop – including a call from one to bring Jason Cummings back to the club.

The 31-year-old hasn’t kicked a ball for the Gers in just shy of two years and returns to Mexico after entering the final months of his Ibrox contract.

Herrera was one of Pedro Caixinha’s signings and was regularly used as a substitute by the Portuguese boss before being bombed out after his sacking.

The former international managed to score one league goal for Rangers  – away to Ross County – in 19 Premiership appearances, with 17 of them from the bench.

Loan spells with Necaxa and Santos Laguna failed to do enough to merit a permanent move but his Ibrox spell is finally over.

Steven Gerrard had left Herrera in no doubt over his lack of an Ibrox future and it’s no surprise the Mexican has finally moved on – and hopefully getting his hefty wages off the books.

Fans were happy to see the 31-year-old move on – with one suggesting the Gers move for a former Ibrox loanee to bolster Gerrard’s strike-force.
