Rangers fans have reacted to the news that defender Filip Helander is nearing a comeback from injury as a picture of him has emerged from training ahead of the vital Boxing Day clash against St Mirren at Ibrox.

The Swede, who has been out injured since September, is arguably one of our finest players and the side suffered defensively due to his absence.

The news that he could be back sooner rather than later delighted fans, here is a series of reactions below.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

The decision to bring the winter break forward was made this week, clearly benefiting some teams more than others as the Old Firm tie has now been delayed until the beginning of February. Filip Helander may well be back in the first XI by then, so the news isn’t all doom and gloom.

The defender has been a colossus since signing from Rangers during the summer of 2019 from Serie A side Bologna and formed an excellent partnership last season with Connor Goldson as the side only conceded 13 goals in 38 league matches.

Under Steven Gerrard during the early parts of this season, the Ibrox side struggled defensively, this was in part to Helander’s absence and the dip in form by Goldson.

Under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, the defence has improved, as the team has only conceded twice in the Dutchman’s eight matches so far.

Getting Helander back into the starting XI would be a big boost for the club as we chase glory on three fronts. Although Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun have done exceptionally deputising, the side is stronger with a centre-back pairing of Helander and Goldson.

Meanwhile, another Rangers defender could make his return from injury against St Mirren.
