Rangers fans rage as Defoe sent to face media after Aberdeen defeat

Last night, Rangers were defeated by Aberdeen at Ibrox, for the second time this season.
Firm favourites for the match, Gerrard’s men threw away an opportunity to challenge for silverware.
With just two shots on target across the 90 minutes, they barely tested Dons keeper, Joe Lewis.

There were insipid individual performances within a team display that simply wasn’t good enough.

Therefore, some fans expected a senior player to front up after the game.
However, it was Jermain Defoe who faced the RangersTV questions.
Other than Steven Davis and Kyle Lafferty, he was perhaps the least culpable of all Rangers players.

Introduced for Scott Arfield after 66 minutes, the game was already lost when he entered the fray.
“Obviously frustrated”, the England international told RangersTV when asked about the mood in the camp.
“It’s a massive disappointment because we came into the game confident. Especially being at home, with home support and obviously wanting to put on a good performance and try and win the game.”

Furthermore, he went on to stress the importance of sticking together and finishing the season strongly.
Overall, he mainly said the right things. He’s an experienced head and will have had to deal with disappointments before.
That’s not really the point, though.

Why was Defoe sent out for the interview?
He played just over 20 minutes, while members of the starting XI were let off the hook.
Plenty of Bears weren’t happy.
