Rangers fringe man Matt Polster made a rare appearance in yesterday’s defeat by Hearts at Tynecastle – and Gers fans want the American to start ahead of Jon Flanagan in Wednesday’s clash with Ross County.

Polster replaced Flanagan at half-time yesterday and caught the eye as one of the few Rangers players to get pass marks as Hearts came back from a goal down to win 2-1.

The former Chicago Fire star has barely featured since signing 12 months ago but Flanagan’s shocking performance at Tynecastle has led to calls for him to be replaced.

With James Tavernier still sidelined through injury, Gerrard will have a decision to make ahead of Wednesday’s game and, after replacing Flanagan at half-time, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a change at right-back.

The American showed far more willingness to get forward after replacing Flanagan and looks much more comfortable in possession then Gerrard’s former team-mate.

While Tavernier will be back in action soon enough, fans want to see Polster involved on Wednesday – with one saying he offers a “gargantuan amount” more than Flanagan.
