Bayer Leverkusen Paulinho is confident that he can use the white-hot Ibrox atmosphere as inspiration to sink Rangers tomorrow night in the first leg of the Europa League last 16 tie.
The £18million teen admits playing in games like these are “beautiful” and knows the Germans will need to be at their best to take something from the game.
Paulinho insists Rangers are a “strong team” after some big wins in the competition and the Brazilian is good form after scoring a double and adding an assist on his first league start at the weekend.
“The atmosphere in Glasgow is something that can inspire me,” Paulinho said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.
“It is beautiful to play in games like these, with big crowds and a lot of noise.
“It will be important for us to keep our focus on the ball and on our opponent, and not allow the atmosphere to distract us.
“We’ll need to be at our best to conquer Ibrox. Rangers have achieved big results in this competition so it’s obvious they will be a strong team.
“It’ll be a very big game. It’s a knockout situation and we want to achieve the best result possible.”
The clash at Ibrox tomorrow night will be a massive opportunity for Rangers to take a step closer to the quarter-finals and ease the pain of their woeful domestic form.
With the second leg to be behind closed doors, the fans at Ibrox can help cheer Gerrard’s side to the next round ahead of the competition.
Hopefully, the Gers can keep Paulinho and co quiet and record another stunning win like the one over Braga.
