Rangers Academy coach Peter Lovenkrands has hinted some first-team players will be involved tonight when the Colts take on Brentford B in a friendly in London.
The young Gers have hit a rough patch of form but ran out winners last time the two sides met, racking up a 4-0 scoreline at Auchenhowie in December.
Lovernkrands thinks the youngsters in the squad will benefit from playing from senior players and expects a good performance against a strong Brentford side.
“We might have a few first-team boys involved in the game so it will be good for them, and for our boys to play with them,” Lovenkrands told Rangers TV.
“We should have a good squad to go down there and take on the challenge that is ahead of us and I am expecting the boys to go and accept the challenge.”
One first-team player who could get a run is Filip Helander as the Swede makes his return from several months on the sidelines.
With Helander not part of the Europa League squad, Steven Gerrard may have opted to send him away with the youngsters to get some game-time with an eye on Sunday’s Old Firm clash.
Others, like Jordan Jones and Jon Flanagan, who find themselves also out of the Europa League squad could also find themselves in action tonight alongside the club’s talented Academy stars.
