Rangers bound player blasted by prominent radio show host

Adrian Durham has blasted Ibrox-bound speedster Jake Hastie on his talkSPORT show, as quoted by the Daily Record.
Hastie had been filmed chanting ‘I’m here to stop 10, ole ole” on Instagram whilst on holiday in Ibiza.
The winger is heading to Rangers this summer. That’s after signing a pre-contract agreement to switch from Motherwell at the beginning of the month.
“What about the Rangers new boy, Jake Hastie, he’s been filmed on holiday declaring he will stop Celtic winning ten in a row,” said Durham, as quoted by the Daily Record. “No surprise he is a teenager, he joins from Motherwell on a free this summer.”
“He declared in a video, he is here to stop 10-in-a-row – you’ve just set yourself up for a massive fall.
“Here’s a tip, grow up fast.”

Durham is hardly the most informed on Scottish football. Firstly, Hastie is no longer a teenager, he’s 20.
There’s also little doubt the promising player’s comments will endear him to some of the club’s fans. It’s clear he knows the objective is to win SPL titles.

The comments were perhaps a little ill-judged, though. It probably wasn’t the time or the place to come out with big statements. Therefore, to an extent, Durham is right that it sets him up for a fall.
He’ll need to work hard to earn himself a place in the team, nevermind inspiring Rangers to league success.
However, he’s a young man who’s just made a big move and he’s off celebrating, so he can be forgiven for what is, on the overall scale of things, a minor indiscretion.
