Rangers boss picks out two PSV stars ahead of Champions League clash

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has directly named ex-Barcelona striker Luuk de Jong and former Feyenoord midfielder Guus Til as two influential players in the PSV side.

Whilst the Dutch coach believes that the Eredivisie side are a “well-balanced” team van Bronckhorst named both these players as amongst the biggest threats in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s squad.

Speaking ahead of the crunch Champions League Playoff against PSV, Rangers boss Gio paid tribute to the side currently turning out at the Philips Stadion and their manager.

“You will see that the players will execute the game plan that the coach wants,” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].

“You can see changes from the last coach to Ruud in this year so that’s the difference.

“Of course they have many weapons in the time with a lot of height up front and a lot of good headers (of the ball).

“With Luuk de Jong and (Guus) Til from the second line and a lot of threats from the side with creativity and speed so it’s a well-balanced team.

“That’s why they’re playing against us for the last ticket for both of us to the Champions League.”

Rangers’ van Bronckhorst singles out PSV dangermen

Rangers know they will have to be at their best in order to down PSV Eindhoven at Ibrox but the power of the stadium has proven a priceless tool in the club’s arsenal over the last few seasons.

With Ibrox rocking this Rangers team believe they can beat anyone and for all the talent in the PSV Eindhoven team, this is the level the Gers must prove themselves worthy of to earn Champions League qualification.

Players such as Luuk de Jong – signed in the summer from Sevilla after a season on loan at Barcelona – and Guus Til – joining from Spartak Moscow – highlight the quality in the PSV side.

These two form part of an impressive summer of recruitment which has also seen PSV add eight players from outside the club and only spend close to £5.5m [Transfermarkt].

Amongst them includes one ex-Ligue 1 star who has been speaking this week about facing “12 men” when clubs play Rangers.
