Rangers boss + matchwinner buzzing after stunning Europa League triumph

Rangers manager Gio van Bronckhorst was left almost speechless after his side booked a stunning Europa League final place with a 3-2 aggregate win over RB Leipzig last night.

After goals from James Tavernier and Glen Kamara had the Light Blues 2-0 up on the night and leading 2-1 on aggregate, Leipzig pulled one back to set up a thrilling finale that saw John Lundstram cement his status at Ibrox with the winner.

“It’s very hard to find the words. It’s been an amazing night,” Van Bronckhorst told BT Sport.

“We said before the game we’d do everything possible. The players were fantastic. You can’t write a script better than this. We’re all very proud. We toasted inside to Jimmy [Bell] for this one.

“The two opening goals were fantastic, just like we wanted. We knew Leipzig would come at us, then to score in the last 10 minutes gives you an enormous boost.”

Match-winner John Lundstram called it his best night ‘by a country mile’ coming just months after he looked to be on his way out of Ibrox.

The Rangers midfielder scored the winner with seven minutes remaining and was short of words when he spoke at the final whistle.

“I can’t put it into words,” Lundstram told BT Sport. “I came in with a good feeling, look at the place, but to actually go out and do it, I can’t put it into words.

“We’ve been through so many ups and downs this season but to come through it and reach a Europa League final, wow.

“It’s my best night by a country mile. Playing in the Premier League was a massive achievement, but to get to a European final.”

After netting the winner in an incredibly emotional week for Rangers, Lundstram dedicated his strike to Jimmy Bell after his shock death, adding: “Words can’t describe how much Jimmy meant to all of us. He was the bedrock of the club and touched everyone.

“I’ve only been here for one season but he took me in and I can’t speak highly enough of him and I just want to dedicate my goal to him, I absolutely love him to bits.
