Rangers boss gives injury update on crocked Gers stars

Rangers manager Gio van Bronckhorst has given an update on the injured players in the first-team squad ahead of tomorrow’s return from the winter break – with Scott Arfield and Steven Davis joining the injured list at Ibrox.

The Gers have been without Fil Helander and Ryan Jack for a lengthy period while Leon Balogun was ruled out of AFCON through injury having been named in Nigeria’s original squad for the competition.

The Light Blues face Aberdeen tomorrow night at Pittodrie as they look to kick off 2022 with a win and pick up where they left off before the winter break.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

“Helander started training but the game will be too early for him,” van Bronckhorst said [RangersTV]

“Arfield and Davis will also both miss out with injury. Roofe and Jack will both start training with the team this week.”

Losing both Davis and Arfield to injury could see a return to the side for John Lundstrum against the Dons or a potential Rangers debut for American star James Sands.

News of Ryan Jack finally returning to training with the team is good news with the midfielder having been out for over a year with a string of injuries.

Getting Helander back into the side will come as a big boost for the Gers too with left-back Calvin Bassey having had to fill in at centre-back before the winter break.

With a Scottish Cup clash against Stirling Albion this weekend, it should give Gio a chance to ease the likes of Helander back into the side – if available – with an eye on the looming Old Firm clash with Celtic at the start of February.

Meanwhile, These Rangers fans have been left in tears at the latest ‘trophy’ for Celtic.
