Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall has insisted there is “nothing” in reports the Jags could swoop for Rangers duo Lewis Mayo and Jamie Barjonas in the January window.
Ibrox inside Four Lads Had A Dream, had claimed on Twitter that the pair were being lined up for a move to Maryhill – while the Scottish Sun linked Barjo with both Thistle and Dunfermline Athletic – with Cammy Palmer heading the other way once his loan deal comes to an end next month.
McCall is still to sit down with Palmer and sort out his future but insists there will be no move for Colts standouts Barjonas and Mayo.
“No, there’s nothing in that,” McCall said when quizzed about a loan move about the Ibrox duo
“We’ve not decided on that (Palmer’s future). There are three loans that we’re certainly going to try keep Reece Cole and Ossie Kakay. Whether we’re able to, I don’t know. Gerry (Britton) is working on that. Cammy and I will have a chat in the next two or three weeks and we’ll see what happens with that one.”
Palmer has made 19 appearances on loan for the Jags but has had to settle for a place on the bench recently after being a regular starter.
Playing consistently will be a massive boost for his development and hopefully, Thistle come to a decision quickly.
While McCall claims a move for Barjonas and Mayo has nothing it, he won’t be the first manager to deny a transfer report only to then sign the play soon afterwards.
