There’s also a new deal for Houston and fellow right-back Nathan Patterson as talks continue with James Maxwell about a new contract, with his current Rangers contract ending in 2021.

It’s some fantastic news for the club with Barjonas and Mayo impressing this season in the second string while Houston has really started to catch the eye at Somerset Park.

Patterson and Houston look like being in direct competition to be James Tavernier’s long-term replacement at right-back and it will be interesting to see how things play out between the two.

Houston made his first-team debut in a Scottish Cup tie last season at Cowdenbeath and has a few years on Patterson and both look to be very exciting young talents.

Hopefully, the club can also agree a new deal with the versatile Maxwell, with the former Falkirk youngster really impressing against Wrexham in the Challenge Cup before being injured.
