Former Celtic keeper Rab Douglas has opened up on talks about a potential move to Ibrox before he signed for Celtic – and admitted he turned it down as he wasn’t going to play regularly as Stefan Klos was undisputed number one.
Douglas was lined up as short-term cover for Klos after the German was injured but Douglas was told he’d be back on the bench once he recovered.

“I never spoke to Rangers directly, they got in touch with Peter Marr. It was 850 for me and I was told I would play six games, Klos was going to be injured for six games, and then I’d be back on the bench.”
Douglas told Open Goal.

“I’d been used to playing at Livingston and Dundee. Blair (his agent) wrote back and David Murray’s words were any unhappy player at Rangers can f*** off’.”
Douglas won three titles at Celtic as well as representing Scotland 19 times but was never likely to have displaced Klos as number one at Ibrox.

If Douglas wasn’t going to be happy playing second-fiddle to such a talented goalkeeper then David Murray’s advice was right.
