Pundit Tam McManus thinks Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has played his last game for the Light Blues after a thigh injury ended his campaign two months early.

The Colombian underwent surgery at the start of the week and will be out of action until the summer and McManus believes that El Bufalo will be sold at the end of the season – although he thinks Morelos’ value might take a hit because of his injury.

“Will he play for Rangers again? I think that’s the question a lot of Rangers supporters will be asking,” McManus said [PLZ]

“A lot of people will have been thinking that if Rangers didn’t get into the Champions League next year then he’ll be away. I don’t think he’ll play again for Rangers, I think they’ll sell him.

“It comes at a crucial point when Rangers will have wanted him to keep playing well and push his value up. Maybe someone will come in and try under bid now. It’s a blow for the player and Rangers, as a club, in trying to get as big a fee as possible this summer.”

Replacing Morelos is key for Rangers – regardless of whether he stays

No matter what happens this summer, Rangers need to recruit a replacement for Morelos and lessen the reliance on El Bufalo.

The likes of Kemar Roofe and Fashion Sakala don’t work as direct replacements for the Colombian – despite both having their own strengths as part of the side.

This summer transfer window is going to be huge for Rangers to get right and make sure the first-team is strengthened rather than adding more fillers.
