Rangers veteran Allan McGregor has been offered a new contract at Ibrox in a surprise move that could see him sign a new deal this summer.
Many believed that at 40-years-old McGregor would be hanging up his gloves once and for all after helping to guide Rangers to the Europa League Final.
But according to Jordan Campbell and the Athletic, both Allan McGregor and Nigerian international centre-back Leon Balogun, 33, have contract offers on the table.
Both players are experienced heads in the dressing room and the news comes as the contract of Allan McGregor and the current deal of Leon Balogun expire at Ibrox.
Allan McGregor has been exceptionally coy on his Rangers future and refused to make any dramatic headlines when pressed at the end of the Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts.
Ex-Mainz, Brighton and Wigan defender Balogun has been quite the opposite, and is clear that he would like to sign a new deal at Rangers.
Rangers contract news: should club sign up Allan McGregror and Leon Balogun?
The reports will raise some eyebrows amid much conjecture regarding a potential rebuild at Rangers this summer.
Whilst the club reached the Europa League Final last season, the Gers fell short in the Scottish Premiership and there is a feeling things need freshened up a little.
Scott Arfield, Steven Davis and perhaps most importantly, Connor Goldson, have all agreed new deals and there has been a mixed reaction to the contract news surrounding Allan McGregor and Leon Balogun.
Both have proven themselves to be committed and passionate Rangers who can help set the standards at Ibrox, but is it time the club moved on instead?
Meanwhile, any Rangers interest in a talented Bolton Wanderers attacker could depend on the future of a £7m Ibrox investment.
