Rangers legend Nacho Novo has slammed the Scottish FA’s disciplinary committee after they refused Alfredo Morelos’ appeal against a Scottish Cup ban for diving – insisting the decision is “embarrassing.”
Morelos was booked in the defeat by Aberdeen – ruling him out of the Gers’ next Scottish Cup tie – and Novo can’t understand how the SFA upheld the referee’s decision.
“I was angry at the decision because I’m honest and I hate things like that. They are destroying the game,” Novo told the Scottish Sun.
“I don’t want any help and Rangers don’t need any help. We don’t ask for favours, but you can see it.
“If they think that Alfredo was diving against Aberdeen they must be drinking or something. It’s embarrassing if they think that’s a dive. It’s a penalty all day long.
“Mistakes happen, referees have a hard job and they can’t be spot on all the time. The referee thought it was a dive and booked him.”
Video footage showed Morelos was clearly dragged to the ground so it is baffling that Morelos’ booking was upheld.
The Colombian’s reputation goes before him and he’s being unfairly treated by officials after a series of flashpoints this season.
While Morelos doesn’t do himself favours at times with how he reacts, his booking for simulation was a shambolic decision.
