Former Rangers captain Lee McCulloch has told the Evening Times that he thinks Alfredo Morelos will learn from January signing Jermain Defoe “every single day.”
The veteran hitman joined the Gers last month as Steven Gerrard bolstered his front-line for a title challenge.
“Whether he plays with him on a matchday or not, the one thing for sure is that Morelos will be learning from Defoe every single day,”
“Defoe is well known for his finishing ability, but if you watch his movement it is absolutely brilliant. He is so sharp and he knows where to be when the ball is in different positions. He reads the game so well.
“Morelos can only learn from that and playing with Defoe can only help his game, whether that is as a single striker or as part of a two.”
Defoe has already scored twice in his four appearances for the Gers as he gets his Ibrox career underway.
Morelos has had to carry much of the burden for scoring over recent seasons and adding Defoe will help lessen that.
Working with someone who has had a career at the top level can only benefit Morelos too.
Defoe has been around the course and his experience can really bring the best out of the Colombian striker.
Whether we see them regularly together remains to be seen but it will be interesting to watch Morelos’ progression.
