Rangers fan Oli McBurnie yesterday became the most expensive Scottish footballer ever when he completed a reported £20million to Sheffield United – and it backs up Rangers’ stance on selling stars like Alfredo Morelos.
The Scotland international moved from Swansea City to the newly-promoted Blades to leapfrog Oli Burke in the all-time list of most expensive Scots, as reported by the Daily Record.

Rangers have made it clear that they aren’t under pressure to sell but admit that every player has his price – even if it’s an eye-watering one.
Seeing players like McBurnie go for the sort of fees mentioned only leaves you wondering what Morelos would be worth down south and it’s absolutely clear that Rangers can’t just sell to the first bidder.
There’s little doubt that McBurnie is a talented player with a good future ahead of him – and he had no say in the price paid for him – but there surely would be a few who would take him over the Colombian.
It seems inevitable that Morelos will leave Ibrox before too long but there’s a real opportunity for Rangers to cash in on the prolific striker and put themselves in a good position to strengthen the squad.

In an ideal world, Morelos sticking around at Rangers long-term and scoring 30-plus goals each season would be perfect but that isn’t likely to happen.
When it does finally happen though, Rangers can be confident they will be able to demande a massive fee for the popular star.
