League One manager says he wants Rangers loanee to stay

Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton addressed the future of Jason Holt while speaking to the Blackpool Gazette on his summer transfer plans.
The former Rangers midfielder took his ex-teammate on board at the League One outfit at the start of the season.
He signed a one-year loan deal and has played 36 times this season.

However, he recently sustained a bad injury and is returning to Rangers for treatment [Record].
That hasn’t put Barton off, though and he wants to keep the 26-year-old.
Initially, he discussed the future of Ched Evans, before moving onto the other soon to depart loanees in his squad.

“I’d love to have him [Evans] but I say the same about Coyley, Soutts, Jason Holt – great characters, who really added to our group”, Barton told the Blackpool Gazette.
“We are hoping they like it enough here that if they are not playing for their parent clubs in higher divisions they will be part of what we are trying to build at this football club.”

Barton also discussed how Fleetwood’s budget is considerably smaller than other teams in the league. Therefore, it seems unlikely they will try to buy the £675k-rated Holt outright.
However, he’s certainly expressing interest in at least another loan move.
Given the strength and depth in Rangers’ midfield, it also looks unlikely Holt will be able to break into Gerrard’s side at Ibrox. Therefore, a second spell at Town may be advantageous for both parties.
