Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd has admitted that he’s got it wrong over Jermain Defoe and believes there’s “still life in him yet” after his performances for Rangers in recent weeks.
The veteran striker has come into the side following Alfredo Morelos’ four-match suspension and has impressed as Steven Gerrard’s side racked up four wins out of four.

“Arfield and Defoe have been linking up magnificently. They’ve shared the goals. They’ve created opportunities for each other,” he told

“Well, I’ll eat those words because I’ve been wrong because Jermain Defoe has come in and showed that there is still life in him yet. I think he’s been excellent.”
Since Defoe has come into the side, Scott Arfield has been used further forward and it has really helped get the best out of both of them.

With Morelos available again for this weekend’s visit of Hibs, Gerrard now has a dilemma on his hands over who will lead the line against Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
