Kris Boyd admits he got it totally wrong about Rangers star

Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd has admitted that he’s got it wrong over Jermain Defoe and believes there’s “still life in him yet” after his performances for Rangers in recent weeks.
The veteran striker has come into the side following Alfredo Morelos’ four-match suspension and has impressed as Steven Gerrard’s side racked up four wins out of four.

Boyd admitted that he was wrong saying Morelos wouldn’t learn from his ban as there was no competition to keep out of the side – and said he’ll have to “eat those words.”
“Arfield and Defoe have been linking up magnificently. They’ve shared the goals. They’ve created opportunities for each other,” he told Sky Sports’ live post-match coverage.

“I sat at Celtic Park after the Old Firm game and said Alfredo Morelos won’t learn because the competition is not there to keep him out the team.
“Well, I’ll eat those words because I’ve been wrong because Jermain Defoe has come in and showed that there is still life in him yet. I think he’s been excellent.”
Since Defoe has come into the side, Scott Arfield has been used further forward and it has really helped get the best out of both of them.

The pair have scored six goals between them in Morelos’ absence and have put in some scintillating performances for Gerrard’s side.
With Morelos available again for this weekend’s visit of Hibs, Gerrard now has a dilemma on his hands over who will lead the line against Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
