One week ago Rangers were celebrating lifting the Scottish Cup for the first time since 2009 – but the new season won’t be long in arriving as the players enjoy a well-earned rest ahead of the 2022/23 SPFL fixtures being released.
After missing out on the Scottish Premiership and Europa League in a rollercoaster finale, there’s plenty to prove for Gio van Bronckhorst and his side after the summer.
The Gers will be hoping they can secure qualification for the Champions League group stages, entering at the Third Qualifying Round and having two rounds to navigate to reach the groups.
Elimination will see the Gers parachuted into the Europa League and a top seed in that competition’s group stage – although that’s a path the Light Blues will be hoping to avoid.
With the World Cup in Qatar forcing the season to take a break in November and December, it is a unique calendar in 2022/23.
