A former BBC journalist has claimed that Alanyaspor manager Francesco Farioli is “interested” in taking over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Rangers.
Fraser Fletcher is claiming that the 33-year-old Italian does have an interest in the job at Ibrox as the Gers look to replace Dutch coach Gio during the World Cup break.
Very much a student of the game, Franseco Farioli has studied sports science and philosophy and worked extensively in coaching set ups around Italy when he was younger.
Handed his first top job with Faith Karagumruk in Turkey in March 2021, after only nine months in charge he was back at Alanyaspor, this time as manager having previously served as an assistant.
When signing on at Faith Karagumruk, at only 31 Farioli became the youngest manager in a pro league in Europe.
Currently ninth in the Super Lig, the jump to Rangers is a considerable one but it hasn’t stopped the suggestion that the manager is interested in moving to Ibrox.
“Highly Rated young manager Francesco Farioli is interested in becoming Rangers new manager,” tweeted Fraser Fletcher.
“Farioli is the youngest manager to get a top job in a top ranked league and has been praised for his style and tactical approach to the game.”
Francesco Farioli reportedly wants Rangers job
The young Italian coach becomes the latest in a long line of names to be linked to the Rangers job but Franseco Farioli may well come under those being linked by agents.
Heart & Hand host David Edgar has spoken about different managers being linked to the post because they are interested in the job and not necessarily because Rangers are interested in them.
“If you begin to hear names being mentioned for the job through various news channels in various countries, then I think that’s their agent getting in touch with the media in this country to let them know,” said David Edgar on the platform’s Daily Update for 23/11/22.

“One such name that came up was Sinisa Mihajlovic, he is interested in the Rangers job and Rangers are not so far interested in him.
”Rangers can expect to receive a lot of that, some of whom will be completely no chance, others will be quite interesting.”
Whilst Fransesco Farioli is said to be interested in the Rangers job there is no suggestion the Ibrox club are interested.
But one report has claimed the club have reached out to another European manager.
