Joe Dodoo returns from injury for Blackpool on New Year's Day

There was good news for fans of Joe Dodoo on New Years Day, as the forward returned from injury in Blackpool’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland.
Dodoo picked up a knock during an FA Cup replay against Solihull Moors on 18th December.
After being spotted in a protective boot shortly after the match, there were fears that the striker faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, he missed just a fortnight of action before returning yesterday.

It’s been an up and down season for the Gers loanee, but one where he has made plenty of appearances.
In November, he experienced a purple patch, with four goals in four matches. That run included two spectacular overhead kicks which drew particular praise.

However, while he scored against Solihull Moors before picking up the injury, he now only has one goal in his last six appearances in all competitions, and just two league strikes all season.
Going forward, his chances of making it at Rangers are slim. With Ryan Hardie impressing at Livingston and Rangers in the market for another striker, Dodoo is well down the pecking order.
It will take a glut of goals between now and the end of the season. Anything less, and he won’t feature in Steven Gerrard’s reckoning.
