The Gers have struggled to sort the problem on the right-hand side of the attack for several seasons with neither Scott Wright nor summer signing Rabbi Matondo pinning down the position.
But as both players fail to fill the void the answer for Rangers could be right in front of them as Fashion Sakala continues to impress the Gers support.
The Zambian international is a willing runner and direct attacker who can cause disruption and uncertainty in opposition defences.
Fashion Sakala deserves a run on the right-wing for Rangers
Several supporters have been left with the impression that Giovanni van Bronckhorst doesn’t much fancy the player such has been Sakala’s inconsistent appearances under the Dutchman.
But joining on a pre-contract from Belgian Pro League KV Oostende last season, it was still a positive campaign for the 25-year-old who netted 12 goals and laid on 7 assists in a productive season.
Rangers also failed to let Fashion Sakala leave in the summer amid interest from the likes of Championship Burnley and teams in Spain and France [Athletic].
That suggests that the Rangers management do see something in Fashion Sakala and perhaps the time he has had out of the team in the first part of the season has given a chance to progress in different ways.
Maybe now the Rangers management are ready to start utilising the talents of the Zambian – who is still raw as a player and not the finished article – as the club continue to toil for consistency on that right-hand side.
So far this season, Fashion Sakala has made 12 appearances for Rangers but only four of those have been from the start.
