Former Rangers striker Gordon Smith thinks reported transfer target Sheyi Ojo could have a similar impact at Ibrox as Liverpool team-mate Ryan Kent – and believes that Gers boss Steven Gerrard will have first choice of players going out on loan from Anfield.
The Gers signed Kent and Ovie Ejaria last season with reports claiming the Gers are targeting as many as four Anfield youngsters are Gerrard prepares for his second season in charge.
“He’ll have first choice probably on the ones with the most talent, ” Smith told PLZ Soccer.
“So this might be somebody that fits in, maybe a squad player but maybe somebody who can play regularly as Ryan Kent became.
“He went from basically being a squad player to start, with Jamie Murphy the main person to start with before Kent came in and got established.”
Ojo spent last season on loan with Stade Reims in France but struggled to really make much of an impact with the Ligue 1 side, scoring only once in seventeen appearances.
The transfer window isn’t even open yet though so there could well be plenty of twists and turns before the players report for their first session of pre-season training.
