Gio Reyna, son of former Rangers star Claudio, has been named as one of the 50 best wonderkids in world football by Goal.com.
The 17-year-old has burst onto the scene at Borussia Dortmund since the turn of the year, after impressing in a mid-season training camp.
A skilful attacking midfielder, Reyna was handed his debut against Augsburg in a Bundesliga fixture in January and has since gone on to make 11 appearances.
He featured in both legs of Dortmund’s narrow recent Champions League Round of 16 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, registering an impressive assist in the first leg.
That display no doubt brought him to the attention of many for the first time, but he’s very highly regarded, as is evidenced by his inclusion at no.23 in Goal.com’s NxGn 2020 list.
There’s also room in the top 50 for former Rangers youth player, Billy Gilmour.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has shown trust in the 18-year-old midfielder this season, and he was repaying that faith in full earlier in the month before the suspension of English football.
Man of the Match displays against Liverpool in the FA Cup and Everton in the Premier League saw him earn rave reviews from the likes of Alan Shearer, and he slots in at no.33 on the list.
Coming out on top of Goal.com’s rankings is Rodrygo of Real Madrid, while Barcelona’s Ansu Fati and Mason Greenwood of Manchester United complete the top three.
