Although it followed the confirmation of pre-contract agreements for Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara. The deals for Defoe and former Southampton club captain, Steven Davis, were undoubtedly the most significant of the window.
Even at that, Defoe’s was probably the biggest coup.
Davis spent four years at Ibrox earlier in his career and had been heavily linked with a return all season.

Defoe, on the other hand, seemed to come out of nowhere.
This is the first time the 36-year-old has played outside of England, with the exception of a stint at Toronto FC, in the MLS.
Moving North of the border was a big decision.
Perhaps inevitably, though, the fixture list ensured his debut was to be an eye-opener, one way or another.

A trip to fourth tier Cowdenbeath, doesn’t exactly scream glamour cup tie.
Though, the circumstances of yesterday’s postponement were particularly ridiculous.

Consequently, he reacted on Twitter.

Receiving over 13 thousand likes, it went down a storm.
However, he was outdone by some replies from the fans.
