Former Rangers captain Gavin Rae believes that Steven Gerrard‘s side will challenge bitter rivals Celtic for the title this season – and thinks there’s a “good chance” the Light Blues will lift one of the two major cups.
The Gers haven’t lifted a major trophy since 2011 but Rae thinks there’s a competitive squad at Ibrox capable of pushing Celtic all the way.
“I do think they will challenge and have a good chance of a cup but it will be tough,”
I think they have done well by building a really competitive squad with lots of strength in depth.”
Gerrard’s side kick off their league campaign on Sunday against Kilmarnock and getting three points on the board early is crucial.
With an Old Firm looming within the first handful of games, there’s no room for error when they travel to Rugby Park.
There’s little reason why Rangers shouldn’t be able to challenge this season and if the Gers fall away as badly as they did last year then there are serious issues.
