Former Celtic goalkeeper Rab Douglas thinks the pressure will “really be on” next season for Steven Gerrard as it looks as though the Gers boss will end his first season at Ibrox trophyless.
Gerrard’s arrival brought with it a huge amount of positivity from Gers fans but recent results haven’t been up to scratch.
“Gerrard’s team does seem stronger this season but if you are one of the top clubs in Scotland, then you have to win trophies,”
“He certainly had enough match experience as a player but he is still learning the ropes as a manager both on and off the pitch.
“But the pressure will really be on him next year in all honesty.”
With Celtic hoping to win an unprecedented triple treble this season and secure their eighth title in a row, the Gers can’t afford to continue much longer without silverware.
Stopping Celtic reaching a tenth successive league is imperative and the closer they get the more pressure Gerrard will face.
He’s dealt with plenty as a player but the Liverpool icon has barely scratched the surface as a manager.
