After a stint playing in Japan, Torres has decided to hang up his boots and picked out his former Liverpool captain as the best player he played with in his career.
Torres admits he would “love” to go back to his time at Anfield “even for one minute” as he regards it as the most compete spell of his career.
“I always say the best player I played with is Steven Gerrard. I found he was the player who completed my game. I think my level got into a different dimension when I was on the pitch with him,” Torres said, as quoted by RTE.
“It was an amazing three-and-a-half years playing alongside Steven and I would love to go back to those days – even for one minute.”
Torres was prolific at Anfield after moving from Atletico Madrid, spending three-and-a-half seasons with the Reds and scoring 81 goals in 142 appearances.
The Spaniard formed a prolific partnership with Gerrard, who often played just behind Torres, before he moved on to Chelsea.
His final game will come when his current side, Sagan Tosu, face Vissel Kobe on August 23rd.
