Rangers striker Fashion Sakala will join up with the club “in a couple of days” as fans grow restless regarding the Zambian’s appearance in first-team training.

The 24-year-old forward signed a pre-contract deal with Rangers earlier in the year after an impressive season with KV Oostende in Belgium where Sakala netted 16 goals.

Rangers reportedly beat off competition from the Premier League and Ligue 1 to sign Fashion with the striker’s early comments endearing him to the Ibrox faithful.

Sakala is a character who will fast become a fans’ favourite if he hits the ground running, but supporters have been getting antsy regarding when the player will join up.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard explained in an interview earlier in July that Covid-19 and passport issues had held the move up.

“Fashion Sakala will join us in the coming days,” said Gerrard. “We’ve got some passport and Covid issues to get through first but he’s very excited to join us as well” [RangersTV].

However, given that was a whole 10 days ago at the time of writing, you’ll forgive fans for asking the question.

Now a report from Africa is claiming that Fashion will – you guessed it – join up with his new Rangers teammates “in a couple of days”.

African Football claim a source close to Fashion told them the following:

“He should be out in the next three days after finishing his mandatory ten-day quarantine period for arrivals in the UK.”

That would suggest that this is the week when we catch a glimpse of the Zambian forward – who can play anywhere across the frontline – with fans desperate to see what he can bring to the team.

Fashion is also set for an Ibrox reunion later in the month as one of the forward’s international teammates completes a £20m move.
