Rangers fans have leapt to the defence of Joe Worrall after fellow supporters took aim at the centre back on Twitter.

Certain fans seemed to take umbrage with the fact Worrall had tweeted out support for parent club Nottingham Forest before their derby match with Derby County. That’s Forest’s Old Firm.

It was pretty damn shameful to be honest. There were also people tweeting out against the player a few months ago because he previously came out and said he intends to return down south come May. I think some of the criticism of his performances have been way over the top too.

Not to mention the fact he’s still only 21. It very much feels like Joe Worrall has been made the scapegoat online by the same people who barked at Josh Windass. It’s tiresome and embarrassing to any true Rangers fan.

Plenty agree – plenty more than who have an issue with the defender.

This abuse of players is shameful and embarrassing and needs to stop. It’s gruntish and oafish. These armchair supporters have real venom at times and it’s great to see real fans standing up to them.

Regardless of what you think of Worrall on the pitch, let him support his side. Hell, we should even be supporting Nottingham Forest alongside him. He’s our player right now.

From Oli McBurnie at Swansea to Charlie Gilmour at Arsenal, plenty of Rangers fans at other clubs do the same as Joe done last night.

Should Swansea or Arsenal fans be barking at them too?
