Ex-Rangers boss with QPR links gives verdict on Michael Beale links

Ex-Rangers and QPR boss Mark Warburton reckons that Michael Beale will find it very difficult to turn down the Ibrox manager’s job.

The former Gers boss spent two years at Ibrox as manager as well as three with the Rs and reckons the current Loftus Road manager will find it hard to resist swapping London for Glasgow.

Whilst Michael Beale rejected the chance to join Premier League Wolves earlier in the season, Mark Warburton insists Rangers is a different opportunity altogether.

As a result, it will be a major decision Beale has to weigh up and Warburton reckons that – should Rangers official make their approach – then the English coach will be the 18th permanent Ibrox manager.

Mark Warburton backs Michael Beale to take Rangers job

“It’s a fantastic opportunity and should it come around it will be very hard to turn down,” said Mark Warburton [Sky Sports].

“As far as I understand it there has been nothing official yet.

“He was approached by Wolves and chose to stay at QPR. He went through a thought process and made that decision for his career, so I’m sure it’s not a done deal by any means yet, The question was about the opportunity, and to manage a club the size of Rangers is always a massive opportunity.

“I think he will recognise the challenges he will face but he already has established relationships within the club with Ross Wilson and the board and he will recognise that these opportunities don’t come around very often.

“I think if it does go ahead he will back himself to go and succeed in what is an unique league in terms of the relationship with Celtic.

“He’ll have to weigh it up. He’s in a good place with QPR. He’s had a good start to the season, they’re just outside the play-offs but this type of opportunity doesn’t come around every week.

”He was there with Steven and they did a great job and he will be intrigued to see if he can do it himself.

”Anyone in football knows what a club Rangers is. Mick’s tasted success there, he knows what it’s all about.”

Rangers remain in the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst after the club fell nine points behind in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Whilst Mark Warburton has tipped Michael Beale to take the Rangers job if offered, as things stand there’s been no official approach and Ibrox fans are nervously awaiting an update.

Meanwhile, one high-profile Rangers star is being linked with a Serie A switch.
