Rangers will find out who they face in the Europa League playoff round on Monday afternoon as the Champions League third-placed teams drop down and stand between the Gers and a place in the last 16.
After pocketing €2.73m (£2.33m) from their performance in Group A, the Light Blues could face the likes of Borussia Dortmund or Barcelona in the playoff round and Gers fans are excited ahead of Monday’s draw in Nyon.
Making the knockout round for a third consecutive year is impressive enough for Rangers but doing so after such a poor start to the group this year is a real show of the quality and fight in Gio van Bronckhorst’s squad.
Last night’s draw against Lyon was a dead rubber after the Gers had already secured second place in the group behind the French side but Gio will have taken plenty of confidence from how his fringe players performed at the Groupama Stadium.
