Rangers new boy George Edmundson has admitted that he will be picking the brains of international veterans like Allan McGregor and Steven Davis but it is the chance to work alongside Jermain Defoe that the defender is looking forward to the most.
Edmundson completed his move from Oldham Athletic yesterday when he signed a four-year deal with Steven Gerrard’s side and the 21-year-old is looking to learn from those in the dressing room who have seen it all before.

“They have done everything there is to do in football so I will be asking them questions and trying to learn off of them to become a better player,” Edmundson told Rangers TV.
“It is going to be massive for me getting to train alongside Jermain Defoe, I will be learning off him in training trying to learn what strikers do and don’t like and become a better player.”

The defender was named in the EFL League Two Team of the Year last season but will face a big step up at Ibrox.
With competition from Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic for a place in the starting XI, Edmundson will likely be gradually introduced to the side.

Having two young central defenders in Edmundson and Katic bodes well for the future and the pair could be part of the side for a long time to come.
