Derek Johnstone fires stark warning to Rangers new boys

Rangers legend Derek Johnstone admits that the new signings at Ibrox this summer need to prove the Gers shirt isn’t “too heavy” for them – but is confident the Light Blues only need to add “finishing touches” to the squad.
Gers boss Steven Gerrard has already added a number of new faces to his squad this summer with Jake Hastie, Greg Stewart, Sheyi Ojo and Jordan Jones all arriving.

Barca Bear Johnstone has warned the new signings they “can’t afford to hide” as supporters expect big things from them at Ibrox.

“Every player that comes in has to prove that they can cope with that and show that the shirt isn’t too heavy for them when they are playing in front of 50,000 at Ibrox and huge supports when you go away,” Johnstone told the Evening Times.

“You can’t afford to hide when you are at Rangers and the supporters will expect big things of you because you are at a big club now.

“Rangers have got the basis of a really good side and now it needs the finishing touches added to it.”
The Gers have less than three weeks until their competitive season gets underway so there’s little time for Gerrard to waste.

There’s little doubt the Gers have the makings of a good side but there’s still one or two question marks about quality.
If Gerrard can get in one or two players with the quality to consistently change games then the Light Blues will be in a very good position to challenge.
