“Retro sport and kit culture-inspired store” The Terrace has taken the admirable step of selling unique Fernando Ricksen mugs to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease research.
The popular and creative sports store – which specialises in quirky mugs, phone cases and homeware – has released the mug in response to requests from Rangers fans.
Taking to Twitter, the store announced the release of the mug which is styled on the treble-winning Rangers top of the 02/03 season with “Ricksen 2” on the back.
It’s a nice touch from the sporting merchandise outlet and is certainly something Rangers fans will be eager to get behind.
You can read more about the mug – which will see profits donated to the MND Association – on the Terrace website HERE.
Former Rangers captain and Ibrox legend Fernando Ricksen passed away last week after finally losing a six-year battle with muscle wasting condition MND.
The former Holland international spent much of the latter part of his life campaigning and raising awareness of the condition which would eventually take his life.
This is no more so evident than in an emotional documentary about Ricksen’s final few years, aptly titled “The Final Battle”.
That is just part of the reason why Rangers fans have banded together to celebrate a footballer who fought the condition in the same inimitable style he played with on the park.

Legions of the club’s supporters lined the streets as Ricksen’s funeral cortege made its way past Ibrox on the way to the church where Fernando would be laid to rest.
This mug is just another way to carry on Ricksen’s legacy by raising money for the worthiest of causes and to try and make sure a young family is never left without their father or mother due to MND again.
