Stephen Craigan spoke out about Rangers’ newest signing, Glen Kamara, on BT Sport, after the televised SPL fixture between Kilmarnock and Hearts.
Former Northern Ireland international, Craigan, is one of the most prominent pundits in Scottish football.
Craigan dismissive of Kamara’s chances
“I think what Kamara will do between now and the end of the season is get up to speed, see what the standard is like, what capabilities he has, what it’s like to play at Ibrox”, Craigan said on the BT Sport.
That all seems pretty reasonable.
At 23, Kamara isn’t the finished article and he will need time to adjust to increased expectations.
Fellow pundit, Chris Sutton, then asked Craigan whether or not he thought the Finnish international would feature soon.
“No, he won’t. Not between now and the end of the season, I wouldn’t have thought.”
Surely, Craigan is incorrect here.
Rangers do have a lot of options in the middle of the park right now.
Yet, why would you pay a fee for a player you already knew was coming in the summer, if there was no intention of playing him.
If he had arrived, as originally anticipated, in June, then he still would have had a full pre-season to get up to speed.
Expect to see Kamara involved before then.
