Comprehensive win sets up final day title decider for Rangers reserves

Rangers reserves have set up a final day title-decider with Celtic and Hibs after beating Hamilton 4-1 today at Auchenhowie in the Reserve League.
Goals from Cammy Palmer and Andy Dallas gave the Gers a half-time lead before strikes from Jamie Barjonas and Glenn Middleton made the win secure.

The result now pulls Graeme Murty’s side onto 35 points with Celtic and Hibs – with the Gers and their Old Firm rivals each having one game left to play.
Rangers took the lead after six minutes from a quick corner from Glenn Middleton – one of two first-team players in the side along with Ross McCrorie.

The winger played it into the near post and Gers’ captain Palmer was there to lift the ball over the keeper and into the net.

Dallas made it 2-0 seven minutes before the break when he rounded off an excellent team move by heading  Matty Shiels’ cross into the top corner.
Although the Gers were in control, Hamilton pulled one back right on half-time through Jamie Hamilton’s header.
Shortly after half-time, Jamie Barjonas restored the two-goal advantage as he fired one home from 25 yards.
It didn’t take long for Rangers to grab another as Middleton continued his fantastic goal-scoring form for the reserves with his ninth goal in five games.

Hibs are currently top on goal difference – with only one goal splitting them and Rangers – but will need both Glasgow sides to lose if they are to end the season as champions.

Murty’s side travel to Falkirk for the final game of the season in a match re-arranged from the recent international break.
Before that though, there’s the small matter of a Hampden meeting between the Old Firm as they meet in the final of the Scottish FA Youth Cup on Thursday night.
