Celtic star Callum McGregor has admitted it is “super disappointing” to see Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack withdraw from the Scotland squad through injury, saying he will be a “big miss” for Steve Clarke’s side.
Jack was replaced in the squad by Allan Campbell yesterday after a calf injury denied him the chance to help Scotland secure a spot at this winter’s World Cup finals in Qatar.
The Celtic captain confessed that losing a player of Jack’s experience is a big blow with John Souttar the only Ibrox representative left in the squad for the crucial World Cup playoff and Nations League games.
“It’s super disappointing. I’m sure he will be [gutted to miss out]. Obviously, us in the squad want him here as well,” McGregor said [Football Scotland]
“He’s a top player and he has loads of experience at international level as well.
“He’s a big miss for us and he will be disappointed no doubt. But it opens up a door of opportunity for somebody else. That’s what we have to do as a squad.
“We will deal with the injuries and everybody has to be ready to play their part.”
Latest Ryan Jack injury blow a worry for Rangers ahead of pre-season
With little detail on the severity of the injury that has forced Jack out of the Scotland squad, it will be a worry for Rangers ahead of pre-season.
Jack’s injury issues are nothing new and, hopefully, it is just a minor knock and nothing that the Light Blues have to deal with.
Having him fit and raring to go for the start of the season is exactly what Rangers need to hit the ground running with a place in the Champions League at stake.
