The Canadian FA confirmed the news on their official Twitter account as they announced replacements for the withdrawals.
The clash has huge ramifications with the Canadians needing a win to guarantee their spot in both the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup and 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League Group A.
Arfield missed the weekend draw with Kilmarnock and Rangers will be hoping he is fit enough for the Old Firm clash on March 31st.
The midfielder has made 39 appearances for Steven Gerrard’s side, scoring seven times and contributing a further seven assists.
Since signing from Burnley last summer, Arfield has been an important part of Gerrard’s side – although he has struggled to avoid niggly injuries throughout the season.
Arfield has also picked up 13 caps for the Canadian national team after being snubbed by Scotland – being named captain earlier this year.
The Canadians play French Guiana on March 24th in Vancouver but will need to hope they can win without two of their most important players.
Hopefully, the chance to rest and avoid a long trip to the west coast of Canada will allow Arfield to fully recover before Gerrard’s side travel across the city at the end of the month.
