Borna Barisic: Hibs draw "our best away match this season"

Last night, brought frustration for Rangers players and fans alike.

In the second half in particular, the Gers dominated Hibs and should have put the game out of sight on multiple occasions.

Despite the disappointment, left-back, Borna Barisic, remained upbeat in his post-match interview.

“I think we played well. We did everything that was in our game plan, we had a lot of chances and didn’t score and maybe they had one chance”, explained the Croatian.

There is no doubt that Rangers were the better side. When Celtic visited Easter Road on Sunday, they were soundly beaten. Yet, last night, there was no sign that the hosts would run away with it. Quite the opposite.

“This is the way we need to play away because i think this has been our best away game of the season”, the defender added.

Is he right?

The Gers’ away form has undoubtedly been patchy this season. They have picked up just three wins from nine away league fixtures to date.

The 2-2 draw away at top seeds in their group, Villarreal, on the first Europa League match day, is surely their best effort in terms of result. The performance on the night was pretty special too.

Domestically, the 2-1 win at Tynecastle which first sent the Gers top, sticks out. The performance in the capital was gritty rather than spectacular, though.

Elsewhere, there isn’t much to shout about. Point have been dropped at Celtic, Aberdeen and Livingston among others.

Therefore, as odd as it seems, Barisic may be right. Rangers haven’t dominated any of league’s bigger teams away from Ibrox like they did last night.

Two points may have been dropped, but it certainly wasn’t due to a poor overall showing.
