Premier League new boys Aston Villa want Rangers captain James Tavernier to replace for Ger Alan Hutton at Villa Park after sealing their return to the top-flight.
Hutton has been released by Villa this summer and Dean Smith’s side are reported by the Daily Mail to want to bring Tavernier to the Midlands.

Tavernier has been key for Rangers in recent seasons and was arguably the Gers most important player over the last 12 months.
The right-back scored 17 times and contributed 20 assists last season as he helped Steven Gerrard’s side secure second place in the Scottish Premiership.

If the Gers do allow Tavernier to move away from Ibrox, then they will surely be in line for a hefty windfall given his performances for the Gers.
If they do sign Tavernier, Villa will get a massive upgrade on Hutton, although it seems unlikely that Rangers will sell unless they receive a massive bid.

The prospect of playing in the Premier League could appeal to Tavernier but hopefully, the lure of a title challenge at Ibrox and European football will be enough to convince Tav his future lies in Glasgow.
With the Gers already looking for defensive reinforcements, selling Tavernier isn’t something that Rangers are likely to do this summer without a replacement already lined up.
